Apply for interdisciplinary research projects with 2 student-assistants
Deadline 24 June 2013.
The VU University Academy Assistants programme is now entering its fifth year. Initially funded through a KNAW grant and aimed at combining social sciences and computer science research, it has since been adopted by the Network Institute and opened up for other interdisciplinary projects that fall within the research themes of the institute. The Academy Assistants programme aims at interesting high-potential master students in conducting scientific research and pursuing an academic career. Last year, the programme received 30 proposals of which 12 were funded. This year, the programme will be able to fund 5 to 8 projects.
This is a call for new proposals as well as proposals for continuation of running projects to start from October 2013 onwards. The programme brings together scientists from different disciplines; therefore the topics of new projects must combine methods & themes from informatics, social sciences and/or humanities; the call is open for all combinations of disciplines. For each awarded project, the programme funds two student research assistants for a period of ten months. The intended outcome of the projects should be papers and/or research proposals.
We are looking for supervisors who want to take on a project and have a research topic in mind that benefits from an interdisciplinary approach. If you are interested in participating in this programme, please send us a short research proposal as outlined in the template proposal here.
Send completed proposals to: email@example.com, before 24 June 2013. An independent committee will evaluate the proposals; subsequent notification of the committee decision will be given by 8 July.
