Last week, at the Eurosys conference, Asia Slowinska was awarded the Roger Needham prize for best PhD thesis in computer systems in Europe.
Incidentally, this is the third time the VU university has won this award! No other university has won it more than once. And that includes places like Cambridge, EPFL, ETHZ, etc.
Read her thesis “Using information flow tracking to protect legacy binaries” here.
Also last week, Peter Boncz, who is affiliated with the Department of Computer Science, has been awarded a prestigious Humboldt Research Award. See here for more information.
