Last week we placed a Interactive screen with sensors in the main hall of the NU building at Vrije Universiteit (VU).
What could be displayed on the large interactive screen you are seeing in the main hall of the NU building, instead of this avatar? It can even be interactive, using motion sensors… People at VU Amsterdam can team up and propose anything!
The project works as follows:
- The Network Institute is making available the interactive screen (and sensors) in the main entrance of the NU building
- A public call for a creative/thought provoking art installations about the Digital Society will be open soon
- The call will ask VU researchers/students to invent an interactive application running on the screen, see here an example of what we have in mind, this is a very cool project carried out at CMU in Pittsburgh!
- The Network Institute will give full financial support to the winning project(s). The funds can be used for anything helping the winning project(s) to succeed, such as students/researchers time, hardware/software, videomaking, and so on
The Network Institute will soon have a covid-friendly call for proposals, stay tuned!
Tentative timeline:
- January: Screen put in place
- February: Public call published on this page
- March: Launch event with a special guest
- April/May: Hackathon-like event
- From June/July: Art installation displayed for the whole 2022/2023 academic year
