The Network Institute is collaborating with the Diversity and Inclusion officers of the Department of Computer Science organising an interactive seminar “From diversity to inclusion” in which we want to address the challenges of how different social identities contribute to discrimination and privilege in academia.
This is a very important and very challenging topic for many of us, and this is an attempt to approach these questions in a systematic and more scientific way. You can help others, and yourself, by joining and raising awareness of the challenges as well as potential solutions.
Where: NU-3A65
When: Aug 31st, 11.00-12.00 (with lunch 12.00-13.00) What: “From diversity to inclusion” in Academia. Who: Kerstin Haemmerling (VU Amsterdam)In order to make this seminar work a success we hope to see as many of you, whatever your position at the Department, and your social identity is. This seminar should be relevant and useful for people in leadership positions, those who will get into such positions eventually, and people who deal with leaders in diverse and mixed academic environments, such as departments, conferences or (research) groups.
Please feel free to join the seminar, ideally let us know by filling this form so that we can prepare (but also feel free to join spontaneously).
NOTE: This seminar is explicitly NOT ONLY meant for people in “leadership” positions, but also for people who have to deal with “leadership” on a regular basis in a mixed and diverse (working) environment.
