Eep Talstra Book Presentation

Eep Talstra, emeritus professor of Old Testament at the Faculty of Religion and Theology, after whom the Eep Talstra Centre for Bible and Computer (ETCBC) has been named, has written a new book that will be published by Amsterdam University Press on 15 January 2024

The book is called “The Bible as Biography of God and People”. Talstra, who started in the 1970s with his pioneering work on Bible and DH (or Alpha-informatica as it was called in those days), shows in this book how speaking about God on the basis of the Bible should start with computer programs, pattern recognition and computational linguistics.

We will organize a book presentation (in Dutch) where Willem van Peursen (the current director of the ETCBC) will reflect on Talstra’s heritage at the ETCBC. How have the digital approaches to sacred texts evolved since Talstra’s retirement in 2012.
