Just published by Cambridge University Press, this handbook provides a snapshot of the rapidly developing field of gesture studies. Sections cover forms and functions of gestures, methods of gesture analysis, and the relation of gestures to language, cognition, and interaction. NI members might be particularly interested in the chapters on gesturing in interaction with robots and gestural interfaces in HCI. The handbook was edited by Alan Cienki, Professor of Language Use & Cognition and English Linguistics, at the request of CUP.
