On the 13th of May, the Network Institute, together with VU Amsterdam and the Gerrit Rietveld Academy hosted the closing events for the Nerdy Arts project in Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
The event began with a keynote given by Kim Baraka, Assistant Professor in AI at VU, entitled “Perspectives at the intersection between robotics and the performing arts”. Following up, students presented their project while answering questions.
A heartfelt thank you and congratulations goes out to all students who participated in event and brought to life these inspiring projects.
A special thank you also to Mauricio Verano Merino for co-organizing the event, as well as everyone else who made it possible.
About the Project
Between 22 April and 13 May, a group of students from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie worked and presented at VU Amsterdam. These students are part of Nerdy Arts, the experimental, interdepartmental new technology program at GRA.
They were joined by VU students from the Network Institute Academy Projects, which is the program that fosters interdisciplinary projects within the Network Institute’s research themes.
The project seeked to spark dialogue and collaboration between students at VU and GRA, particularly around the intersections of art, science, and technology through presentations in form of poster displays, installations, or small exhibitions.
