Ivano Malatova, director at the Network Institute, and Radu Apsan, Scientific Software Engineer at the Network Institute, visited the Plastic Surgery Department at Utrecht UMC to present and discuss how Generative AI can be successfully used in Science.
The title of the talk was “The new research partner: how generative AI is reshaping Science” and its abstract is like follows:
Generative AI is rapidly transforming how research is conducted across academic disciplines. This talk is composed of two main parts. The first part offers a concise, practice‑oriented taster of how generative AI tools can support key phases of the research process, including idea generation, literature exploration, data analysis, and study design. The second part is a hands-on session in which participants will directly experiment with open-source AI models provided through the Nebula platform developed at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. By the end of the session, participants will be equipped with the foundational skills needed to start integrating generative AI into their research practice, while preserving academic rigor and integrity.
On behalf of the Network Institute we extend our gratitude to the Plastic Surgery department at Utrecht UMC for the invitation and for the very lively and enriching discussion!
